The most common LG dishwasher error codes are AE, E1, and LE, which relate to leak detection, followed by OE for drain failure and IE for water inlet failure. The AE or E1 error is by far the most reported by owners and service technicians. It means the leak sensor in the base pan beneath the dishwasher has detected water or moisture, triggering the drain pump to run continuously and preventing the dishwasher from starting a new cycle. This can be caused by a true leak from a loose hose, cracked spray arm, or faulty door seal, but more often it is caused by excess suds from using non-dishwasher detergent or too much rinse aid, a small amount of water spilled during filter cleaning that entered the base pan, or a faulty leak sensor itself. The fix involves turning off power, removing the kick plate, drying the base pan with towels, checking for suds, and ensuring only automatic dishwasher detergent is used. The OE error means the dishwasher is not draining within 10 minutes, usually due to a clogged filter, kinked drain hose, blocked garbage disposal knockout plug, or failed drain pump. The IE error means no water entering, often due to a closed water valve, kinked inlet hose, or failed inlet valve. Regular filter cleaning prevents most errors.
