According to Consumer Reports predicted reliability and owner satisfaction data, dishwasher brands you should be cautious about or avoid include those with higher than average repair rates, poor cleaning scores, or difficult service. Consumer Reports does not officially blacklist brands, but its data shows that Frigidaire, particularly budget Frigidaire models, and some Beko and Samsung dishwasher models have shown below-average predicted reliability in recent years with higher rates of leak sensor, control board, and drain pump failures. Budget Frigidaire dishwashers often score lower for washing performance and drying and have higher rates of rack rust and spray arm clogging. Some older Samsung dishwashers had issues with leaking and poor drying that led to lower owner satisfaction. Consumer Reports also notes that ultra-cheap private-label or online-only brands like Magic Chef, Comfee, and other compact countertop brands have very limited service networks and poor parts availability, making repairs difficult. Brands that consistently receive Excellent or Very Good reliability ratings are Bosch, Miele, LG, and KitchenAid. Bosch and Miele are top for reliability and quietness but cost more. LG and KitchenAid offer excellent cleaning and good reliability at mid-range prices. Always check the specific model ratings rather than just brand, as reliability can vary by model year and feature set.
