The electric utility company is entirely responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of the overhead service drop wires running from the utility pole to your home's attachment point. The utility owns and maintains these high-voltage lines. However, the homeowner is strictly responsible for the physical point of attachment hardware, the weatherhead, the exterior conduit mast, the meter socket enclosure, and the main electrical panel inside the house. If a storm damages the utility's overhead service drop lines, the power company fixes them; if the roof mast or weatherhead is ripped off, the homeowner must hire an electrician.
