Which is better for your home, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi door locks, depends on your priorities for convenience, battery life, and remote access. Bluetooth smart locks connect directly to phone via Bluetooth Low Energy when you are within about 30 feet, they use very little battery so batteries last 6 to 12 months, are generally more secure because they do not connect to internet directly, and work even if WiFi is down, but you cannot lock or unlock remotely when away unless you have additional hub or bridge. They are ideal if you mainly want keyless entry when home and want longer battery life and better privacy. WiFi smart locks connect directly to home WiFi or via hub, allowing remote locking, unlocking, real time alerts, and integration with Alexa, Google Home, and remote access for guests even when away, which is better if you need to let in dog walker, Airbnb guest, or check status from work. However, WiFi locks consume more battery so need charging every 2 to 6 months, depend on strong WiFi signal, and have larger attack surface for hacking. Many best locks today offer both, Bluetooth for daily use and WiFi bridge for remote access, giving best of both worlds. For most homes, WiFi or dual connectivity is better for convenience.
