Sherwin-Williams manufactures its paint in a network of more than 20 company-owned plants located primarily in the United States, with additional facilities in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and other countries acquired through Valspar. The company is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, and maintains major manufacturing and distribution centers in Ohio, including facilities in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, as well as plants in Florida, Illinois, Texas, California, and Minnesota. The Minnesota plants came from the Valspar acquisition, which had its headquarters in Minneapolis. For North America, most architectural paint sold in the U.S. and Canada is made in U.S. plants to ensure quality control and supply chain efficiency. Internationally, Sherwin-Williams operates paint plants in Mexico and Brazil to serve its Latin American store network of over 300 stores, plus plants in other South American countries. It also has facilities in Europe and Asia for industrial coatings through its Performance Coatings Group. The manufacturing process includes both water-based latex and solvent-based alkyd production, with strict environmental controls. While raw materials are sourced globally, final blending, tinting bases, and packaging are done in these regional plants close to their markets, allowing Sherwin-Williams to distribute quickly to its own stores and to retail partners.
