The twist in Click is that what begins as a goofy fantasy comedy about a man with a magical universal remote that lets him fast-forward through annoying parts of life turns into a tragic drama about wasting your life. Michael Newman, played by Adam Sandler, receives the remote from the mysterious Morty, played by Christopher Walken. He starts using it to skip arguments, showers, traffic, and work meetings. The twist is that the remote is programmed to learn his preferences and begins auto-skipping anything it thinks he would want to skip, including his entire career, his marriage, his children's childhoods, and his father's last moments. He fast-forwards ten years and discovers his wife has married someone else, his son has become estranged, and he is obese and dying alone. In the final twist, he learns Morty is actually the Angel of Death and the remote is a lesson about mortality. Michael dies in the rain outside his son's hospital after begging his family to stay. Then he wakes up and realizes it was all a dream or a second chance, and the remote was giving him a warning. He throws it away and decides to cherish every moment.
