Click is considered a good movie by many audiences even though critics were divided, and whether it is good depends on what you want from an Adam Sandler film. If you expect non-stop silly comedy like Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison, Click may feel tonally confusing because it starts funny and becomes very serious, emotional, and even dark about death, divorce, and regret. If you appreciate Sandler's ability to mix comedy with heartfelt drama, then Click is excellent and is often called one of his most meaningful films. It has a strong central concept inspired by It's a Wonderful Life, with a magical universal remote that lets Michael Newman skip unpleasant parts of life only to realize he is skipping his entire life. Christopher Walken adds charm as the eccentric inventor Morty, and the chemistry with Kate Beckinsale works well. The film grossed over 240 million dollars, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Makeup, and has become a family favorite that many people revisit because of its message about valuing time, family, and the small moments. Most viewers who watch it as adults find it surprisingly touching and say it makes them cry and call their parents.
