The plot of the 1986 psychological horror film Crawlspace centers on Karl Gunther, a disturbed landlord who is secretly the son of a Nazi war criminal. Living in an apartment complex rented mostly to women, he utilizes the building's intricate network of overhead crawl spaces and ventilation shafts to spy on his tenants, trap them inside, and systematically stalk and murder them, until one resourceful tenant fights back against his reign of terror.
