Cockroaches can and frequently do live in crawl spaces, as these dark, damp, undisturbed environments provide ideal nesting conditions, high humidity, and plenty of organic debris. If a crawl space lacks proper vapor barriers, has standing moisture, or features unsealed cracks around foundation vents, it can attract American cockroaches, German roaches, and other pests, which may eventually find their way upward into the main living areas of the house.
