Common problems with LG dryers fall into airflow, heating, mechanical, and sensor categories. The most frequent complaint is long drying times or clothes still damp, which is almost always due to restricted airflow causing d80, d90, or d95 error codes. This happens when the lint filter is not cleaned, lint packs into the housing below the filter, the flexible vent behind the dryer is kinked, or the exterior wall duct and flap are blocked with lint. This blockage causes overheating and can blow the thermal fuse, leading to a no-heat condition where the dryer tumbles but does not produce heat. In electric models, failed heating elements are common after 5 to 8 years, while in gas models, failed igniters, flame sensors, or gas valve solenoids cause no heat. Mechanical wear items include broken drum belts, worn idler pulleys, and drum rollers that cause squealing, thumping, or squeaking noises and prevent the drum from turning. Moisture sensor bars can become coated with fabric softener residue, causing the dryer to think clothes are dry and shutting off early. Control board failures are less common but can cause failure to start or erratic display. Regular vent cleaning annually, lint filter cleaning before every load, and vacuuming the lint housing every few months prevents most issues.
