Most dishwashers including Whirlpool, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid, GE, and Samsung do not have a dedicated physical reset button like a small red button, but you can reset them through power cycling and button sequences that clear error codes and control glitches. The universal reset method is hard power reset: press Cancel or Drain button to stop cycle, open door, then unplug dishwasher from wall outlet under sink or turn off circuit breaker that supplies it, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes to allow main control board capacitors to fully discharge and clear memory, some technicians recommend pressing Start button for 5 seconds while unplugged to drain residual charge, then plug back in or turn breaker on. For Whirlpool and Maytag dishwashers, you can also perform button sequence reset: with dishwasher in standby, press Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal buttons within 6 seconds to enter diagnostic mode, lights will flash, then press Cancel to reset. For Bosch dishwashers, press and hold Start button for 3 to 5 seconds to reset. For GE dishwashers, press Start and Select Cycle buttons together for 5 seconds. To reset control lock, press and hold Control Lock or Heated Dry button for 3 seconds. A reset will not fix mechanical failures like failed drain pump or water inlet valve but often clears temporary errors after power outage, clogged filter, or door not latched.
