Containment is not a traditional zombie film, though it shares some similarities with zombie and outbreak movies that cause confusion. There are two main productions with this title. The 2015 British film Containment directed by Neil Mcenery-West is a low-budget sci-fi horror about a man who wakes up to find his apartment building sealed off due to a mysterious virus, and infected people display zombie-like aggressive behavior, but they are technically infected humans, not undead zombies. The more well-known Containment is the 2016 CW television series based on the Belgian series Cordon, which is about a deadly epidemic in Atlanta that forces a cordon sanitaire around part of the city, and it focuses on drama, quarantine, and survival rather than supernatural zombies. People sometimes confuse it with zombie films because it features a contagious outbreak, people in hazmat suits, quarantine zones, and infected individuals who are violent and erratic, similar to 28 Days Later style infected. However, true zombie films involve reanimated dead or undead creatures who eat flesh. Containment is better classified as a pandemic thriller, outbreak drama, and dystopian containment film about virus and government response, rather than a classic zombie film with undead monsters.
