To troubleshoot an LG gas dryer, follow a systematic safety-first approach because you are dealing with gas and 120-volt electricity. First, check power and gas: ensure the dryer is plugged into a grounded 120-volt outlet, the gas shutoff valve behind the dryer is fully open and parallel to the pipe, and other gas appliances in the house work. Second, check for error codes: d80, d90, d95 means vent blockage at 80 to 95 percent, clean the vent; tE means temperature sensor failure; LE means motor overload. Third, test airflow, the number one cause of no-dry issues: clean lint filter before every load, vacuum lint housing below filter, pull dryer out and check flexible duct for kinks, go outside and confirm exterior flap opens fully when dryer runs, and clean the wall duct annually with a vent brush. Fourth, test heat: run Time Dry high heat for 2 minutes, open door quickly and feel if drum is warm; if drum tumbles but no heat, likely causes are blown thermal fuse from vent blockage, failed igniter that should glow orange, failed flame sensor, or weak gas valve coils that open then close. Listen for a click and glow at the bottom front. Fifth, clean moisture sensor bars inside drum with rubbing alcohol to remove fabric softener residue that causes early shutoff. If you smell gas, turn off gas immediately and call a professional.
