To reset garage door keypad without knowing existing code or PIN because you forgot code or bought house with unknown code, you need to erase keypad from opener and program new PIN using Learn button on opener motor unit, which does not require old code. First, locate Learn button on garage door opener motor unit hanging from ceiling, near antenna wire and light cover, often under light lens, colored yellow, purple, red, or green. To erase all keypads and remotes from opener memory, press and hold Learn button for 6 to 10 seconds until LED goes out, which clears memory and removes old unknown code, effectively resetting opener to accept new code without needing old one. Next, to program new code without old code, press and release Learn button briefly, LED lights steady for 30 seconds indicating ready to learn. Within 30 seconds, go to keypad outside garage and enter new 4-digit PIN you want to use and press Enter, holding until opener light blinks or door moves, indicating new PIN learned and old code erased. If you don't want to erase all remotes, you can still program new PIN without old code by pressing Learn and entering new PIN, as many openers allow adding new PIN without old code, though old PIN may still work until erased. If keypad has Program button, press it and enter new PIN without old code. After reset, test new PIN several times to ensure it works and old code no longer works.
