To reset your keypad that controls garage door opener and no longer works with PIN or you want to change PIN, you need to erase old PIN and program new PIN using Learn button on opener and keypad itself. For most LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman keypads like 877MAX, to reset and change PIN, press and hold Learn button on garage door opener motor unit hanging from ceiling for 6 seconds until LED goes out if you want to erase all keypads and remotes, or to just reset keypad PIN, enter existing PIN and press and hold Enter until opener light blinks, then enter new 4-digit PIN and press Enter. More common method to reset keypad after battery replacement or loss of sync: press and release Learn button on opener briefly, LED lights steady for 30 seconds, then within 30 seconds go to keypad outside and enter new 4-digit PIN you want to use and press Enter or Send button, holding until opener light blinks or door moves, indicating keypad reset and new PIN learned. For Genie keypads, press Program button on keypad, enter new PIN, and press Program again. If keypad has old PIN you forgot, you may need to erase keypad memory by removing battery for 30 seconds, then reprogram with new PIN via Learn button. After reset, test keypad by entering new PIN and pressing Enter to open and close door several times to ensure reset successful and PIN works.
