Adam Sandler was 39 years old when Click was filmed and 39 turning 40 when it was released. He was born on September 9, 1966, and Click began principal photography in early 2006 and was released in the United States on June 23, 2006. That means during most of the shoot in early to spring 2006 he was 39, and he turned 40 just a few months after the film's release. In the movie, he plays Michael Newman, a middle-aged architect and father of two who is supposed to be in his early to mid-40s and then ages rapidly through prosthetic makeup into his 70s and 80s as he fast-forwards through his life. The makeup transformation that aged him was so extensive it earned the film an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup. At that point in his career, Sandler was at the height of his box office power, coming off hits like 50 First Dates and The Longest Yard, and Click was his first film to blend high-concept fantasy with a more mature, family-oriented dramatic message, which suited his own age as a new father in real life.
