Do toiletries need to be bagged for fumigation? Yes, many toiletries need to be bagged or removed during whole-house fumigation because they can absorb fumigant or be ingested or applied to skin after. Fumigation companies provide specific list, but generally you should bag or remove items like toothpaste, mouthwash, lip balm, lipstick, deodorant that touches mouth, baby lotions, and any product that goes in mouth or on lips. Regular soaps, shampoos, and lotions that are rinsed off are usually okay to leave, but to be safe double bag in Nylofume bags. Medicines, vitamins, and supplements must be bagged. Cosmetics that are not sealed should be bagged. If toiletry is in sealed glass or metal container with original airtight seal, some companies allow leaving it, but plastic bottles are permeable. Best practice is to put all consumable toiletries, especially oral care, in special fumigation bags provided, double bagged, or take them with you. After fumigation, you do not need to throw them away if bagged properly, as gas does not penetrate Nylofume.
