No, Lennox and Trane are not the same company; they are separate, competing HVAC manufacturers with different histories, ownership, and headquarters, though both make furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps. Lennox International Inc. is an independent publicly traded company founded in 1895 by Dave Lennox in Marshalltown, Iowa, headquartered in Richardson, Texas, near Dallas, employing about 13,000 people, and is known for high efficiency residential HVAC including its Dave Lennox Signature Collection and for commercial rooftop units. Trane is a brand owned by Trane Technologies, formerly part of Ingersoll Rand, founded in 1913 by James Trane in La Crosse, Wisconsin, headquartered in Swords, Ireland, with US operations in Davidson, North Carolina, employing about 40,000 people and also owning Thermo King for transport refrigeration. Both companies compete directly in residential and commercial HVAC markets alongside Carrier, Daikin, and others, selling through authorized dealers, but they have distinct product designs, technologies, and dealer networks. So Lennox and Trane are competitors, not the same company, with Lennox being Texas-based and Trane being part of an Irish-headquartered global company, each with its own engineering and manufacturing.
