Even if your garage door sensors appear aligned with solid LEDs, door may still not close due to other issues like wiring faults, travel limits, force settings, or mechanical binding that prevent closing despite sensor alignment. Sensors can show solid lights but still have intermittent fault due to loose wiring at sensor or at opener unit that causes brief signal loss when door vibrates during closing, so check wiring connections and ensure wires are not damaged by staples or rodents and terminals are tight. Sunlight shining directly into receiving sensor can cause it to think beam is blocked even when aligned, so shade sensor with cardboard. Travel limits set incorrectly where close limit is too short can cause door to reverse before touching floor, appearing as not closing, requiring limit adjustment via screws on opener. Force setting too low can cause door to reverse when closing because opener thinks it hit obstruction, so increase close force slightly. Door binding due to rollers off-track, bent track, or broken spring can cause opener to reverse when closing, so try closing manually after pulling emergency release; if door is heavy or binds, spring or track issue. Logic board or RPM sensor failure can cause erratic behavior where sensors aligned but board misreads. Also check for lock mode engaged on wall console or obstruction on door track like ice. Try holding wall button down continuously, which overrides sensors; if door closes when holding button, problem is still sensor related despite appearing aligned, and sensors may need replacement costing 20 to 50 dollars.
