Whether both sensors should be green on garage door depends on brand and model, as sensor LED colors vary by manufacturer and indicate different functions, but generally one sensor shows green and other shows yellow or orange when aligned. For LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers, which are most common, the sending sensor that emits infrared beam typically has yellow or orange LED that is solid when powered, while receiving sensor that receives beam has green LED that is solid when aligned and receiving beam, so one yellow and one green both solid indicates sensors aligned and working. If both sensors are green, it may indicate different brand where both show green when aligned, such as Genie openers where both sensors show solid green or red when aligned, or it may indicate wiring issue. If one sensor is green and other is off or blinking, sensors are misaligned, dirty, have loose wiring, or are blocked, preventing door from closing. If both sensors are off, no power to sensors due to wiring fault or opener issue. If both sensors are blinking, misalignment or obstruction. To ensure proper operation, check opener manual for your model to know correct colors, clean lenses, align sensors until LEDs solid, and ensure wiring tight. Sensors should be mounted 4 to 6 inches above floor on both sides of door track and facing each other with clear line of sight. Solid LEDs indicate sensors working and door should close normally.
