What color your garage sensor should be depends on brand and model of opener, as different manufacturers use different LED colors to indicate power and alignment status, but general guidelines help interpret sensor lights. For LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers, which are most common and use same sensors, the sending sensor that emits infrared beam typically has yellow or amber LED that should be solid when powered and sending beam, while receiving sensor that receives beam has green LED that should be solid green when aligned and receiving beam, so one yellow solid and one green solid indicates sensors aligned and working properly. If receiving sensor is blinking green, it is not aligned or beam blocked. If sending sensor is off, no power due to wiring fault. For Genie openers, both sensors may show solid red or green when aligned, depending on model, with one red and one green solid indicating alignment. For Wayne Dalton, sensors may show green. If sensors show no light, no power. If both show blinking, misalignment. Check opener manual for your specific model to confirm correct colors, as colors vary. In general, solid LEDs indicate sensors aligned and door should close, while blinking or off indicates fault preventing closing. Sensors should be mounted 4 to 6 inches above floor on each side of door track facing each other with clear line of sight and no sunlight directly shining into receiving sensor causing interference.
