If your garage door isn't responding to button press, whether remote or wall button, you can troubleshoot power, wiring, sensors, and opener issues to restore function. First, check power, as opener may be unplugged, breaker tripped, or GFCI outlet tripped, so ensure opener lights are on and outlet works by testing with other device. For wall button not responding, remove wall console cover and check two low-voltage wires connected to terminals for looseness or corrosion, tighten screws, and check wiring running to opener for damage from staples or rodents, replacing wire if needed. Try shorting wires at opener unit by touching them together; if door operates, wall button is faulty and needs replacement costing 20 to 50 dollars. For remote not responding, replace battery, reprogram remote by pressing Learn button on opener and pressing remote within 30 seconds, and check for lock mode engaged on wall console that disables remotes, indicated by blinking light, so press and hold lock button for 5 to 10 seconds to unlock. Check safety sensors near floor for dirt or misalignment with blinking LEDs, as sensors can prevent closing, cleaning lenses and aligning until solid. Check manual lock on door track engaged that physically prevents opening. Try opening manually by pulling emergency release cord and lifting door; if door is very heavy or won't lift, torsion spring may be broken requiring professional replacement costing 200 to 400 dollars. Unplug opener for 30 seconds to reset logic board.
