Who owns the Goodmans brand? The Goodmans brand, correctly Goodman, is owned by Daikin Industries, Ltd., Japanese multinational and world's largest air conditioning manufacturer headquartered in Osaka, Japan. Daikin acquired Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P. in 2012 for $3.7 billion from private equity firm Hellman & Friedman. Goodman operates as subsidiary of Daikin, with headquarters in Waller, Texas. Daikin also owns other HVAC brands including Amana, Daikin, McQuay, and Quietflex. Prior to Daikin ownership, Goodman was founded by Harold V. Goodman in 1982 in Houston, Texas, and grew as family owned business, later owned by Apollo Management and Hellman & Friedman private equity. Since acquisition, Daikin has invested heavily in Goodman, building Daikin Texas Technology Park mega factory in Texas. So owner of Goodman brand is Daikin Industries, publicly traded in Japan, which also owns Amana and Daikin brands, making Goodman part of largest global HVAC group with annual revenues over $25 billion.
