Which brand of furnaces is better, Goodman or Carrier?

Which brand of furnaces is better, Goodman or Carrier? Goodman and Carrier differ in market positioning, Carrier is premium brand known for Infinity series with modulating gas valve, Greenspeed intelligence, high efficiency up to 98.5 percent AFUE, quiet operation, and strong dealer network, but higher price $4000 to $7000 installed and proprietary parts that are more expensive. Goodman is value brand owned by Daikin, known for affordable price $2500 to $4500 installed, good 10 year parts warranty and lifetime heat exchanger warranty, and standard parts that are widely available and cheaper to repair. Carrier furnaces have better build quality, heavier gauge steel, and more advanced communicating controls, while Goodman offers better value and lower cost of ownership. Reliability both similar when properly installed per Manual J, but Carrier slightly more reliable long term in surveys. For homeowner wanting premium efficiency, quiet, and advanced features, Carrier better. For budget conscious wanting solid warranty and low repair cost, Goodman better. Many contractors say Carrier better for premium homes, Goodman better for rentals and budget. Installation quality matters more than brand, proper sizing and venting critical for both.
