What are people saying about Goodman HVAC units? People saying about Goodman HVAC units in online reviews, Reddit HVACAdvice, and contractor forums is mixed but generally positive for value. Homeowners praise Goodman for affordable upfront cost 20 to 30 percent less than Trane or Carrier, good 10 year parts warranty and lifetime compressor warranty on high end models when registered, and use of standard parts that are widely available and cheaper to repair, making service easier. Contractors say Goodman units are straightforward to install and service, with reliable Copeland scroll compressors since Daikin ownership improved quality control and manufacturing in Texas mega factory. Negative comments include thinner cabinets than premium brands, louder operation on entry level single stage models, and historical issues with evaporator coil leaks due to formicary corrosion in older models, though improved with all aluminum coils. Many reviews note Goodman works fine when properly installed per Manual J and D, with regular maintenance, lasting 15 to 20 years. Overall sentiment is Goodman is good value brand, best for budget conscious, rental properties, and homeowners wanting low cost of ownership, not luxury premium but dependable if installed correctly by qualified dealer.
