Is Goodman as good as Trane?

Is Goodman as good as Trane? Goodman and Trane target different market segments. Trane is premium brand known for durability, heavy gauge steel cabinets, Climatuff proprietary compressors, rigorous testing, and reputation as hard to stop, often rated most reliable with lower failure rates, but higher price $8000 to $15000 installed and proprietary parts that are more expensive. Goodman is value brand owned by Daikin, world's largest HVAC manufacturer, known for affordable price $5000 to $9000 installed, good 10 year parts warranty and lifetime compressor on some models, and standard parts that are cheaper and easier to find. Goodman quality improved significantly since Daikin acquisition in 2012, with manufacturing in Texas. In terms of efficiency, both offer up to 20-22 SEER2 variable speed models. Trane generally has better build quality, quieter operation, and heavier construction, while Goodman offers better value for money. Installation quality matters more than brand, properly installed Goodman can last 15 to 20 years similar to Trane. So Goodman not quite as good as Trane in premium build and quiet, but close in efficiency and value, good enough for budget conscious homeowner.
