Who owns Ecosmart light bulbs?

EcoSmart light bulbs are a private-label brand owned and sold exclusively by The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer. EcoSmart was created by Home Depot in the early 2000s as its house brand for energy-efficient lighting, starting with compact fluorescent bulbs and later transitioning to LED technology as LEDs became dominant. The bulbs themselves are not manufactured by Home Depot; they are produced by various original equipment manufacturers, primarily in China, under contract to Home Depot's specifications. Over the years, manufacturers have included companies like Cree, Leedarson, and other large LED factories, but the brand, packaging, and quality control are managed by Home Depot. This is why you will only find EcoSmart bulbs at Home Depot stores and on homedepot.com, not at Lowes or other competitors. EcoSmart has become one of the best-selling LED bulb brands in North America due to its aggressive pricing, wide availability, and decent quality for everyday use. While Home Depot owns the brand name and trademarks, the underlying technology is sourced from established LED component makers, and Home Depot sets the warranty terms, typically offering a 3 to 5 year warranty on EcoSmart LEDs.
