Pass and Seymour is made by Legrand, which is a large French multinational company that acquired Pass and Seymour in 1983 and continues to design and manufacture products under the Pass and Seymour brand. Legrand was founded in 1865 in Limoges, France, and is publicly traded on the Euronext Paris stock exchange and is one of the world's largest manufacturers of electrical and digital building infrastructure. Legrand's Pass and Seymour division, headquartered in Syracuse, New York, where Pass and Seymour was originally founded in 1890, designs its wiring devices including switches, outlets, GFCI and AFCI outlets, and designer collections like Radiant and Adorne in its US engineering centers and manufactures them in facilities in the United States, Mexico, and other global plants to serve North America. Like other major electrical manufacturers, Legrand uses global supply chains but maintains strict quality control, UL listing, and CSA certification for its products. So when you buy a Pass and Seymour outlet at Home Depot or an electrical distributor, it is engineered by Legrand's American team and made in Legrand factories, with the brand retaining its historic American name but owned and operated by the French parent company Legrand, similar to how Square D is owned by Schneider Electric.
