Pass and Seymour is a historic American brand of electrical wiring devices that is now owned by Legrand, a French multinational electrical manufacturer headquartered in Limoges, France. Pass and Seymour was founded in 1890 in Syracuse, New York, by James Pass and George Seymour, and it became one of the earliest and most respected manufacturers of electrical wiring devices such as switches, outlets, lamp sockets, and plugs. Over more than 130 years, Pass and Seymour became known for innovation, including early duplex outlets and grounding devices, and became a trusted name among electricians for reliable residential and commercial wiring devices. In 1983, Pass and Seymour was acquired by Legrand, which has kept the brand as its primary wiring device brand in North America under the name Pass and Seymour by Legrand or Legrand Pass and Seymour. Today, Pass and Seymour products include standard and Decora style switches and outlets, GFCI and AFCI safety outlets, USB charger outlets, commercial and hospital grade devices, and designer collections like Radiant and Adorne that offer customizable colors, finishes, and screwless wall plates. Pass and Seymour products are sold at Home Depot, Lowes, and electrical distributors and compete directly with Leviton and Hubbell.
