What is number one dirtiest country in world depends on ranking system, but Environmental Performance Index EPI which measures air quality, waste management, sanitation, and pollution often ranks India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan near bottom for dirtiest in terms of environmental pollution. In recent EPI rankings, India has been ranked as one of lowest, sometimes number one dirtiest overall due to severe air pollution in cities like Delhi, heavy river pollution like Ganges and Yamuna, poor waste management, and high PM2.5 levels. Bangladesh and Pakistan also rank very low for air quality and water pollution. For ocean pollution and plastic waste leakage, Philippines, India, and Indonesia are top contributors. For dirtiest based on litter and street waste, countries with inadequate waste infrastructure like India, Indonesia, and some African nations face major challenges. According to some popular lists based on air pollution, Bangladesh often ranks as most polluted country for air quality. So there is no single official dirtiest country, but India and Bangladesh frequently appear at bottom of environmental cleanliness rankings for air pollution, water pollution, and waste management, making them often cited as number one dirtiest in terms of overall pollution and environmental health.
