Normal polarity in an electrical circuit means that electricity flows through designated, correct pathways: the hot wire delivers current to the device, and the neutral wire safely returns it, while the ground wire remains a protective backup. In contrast, reverse polarity means that the hot and neutral conductors have been swapped or crossed either at the terminals or along the cable run. While appliances may still physically turn on under reverse polarity, internal switches operate on the neutral side, creating hidden shock hazards.
