A "live-earth reverse" (often called hot-ground reversal) is an extremely dangerous electrical wiring fault where the live (hot) current-carrying conductor is accidentally connected to the earth ground terminal or grounding wire of an outlet or appliance. Unlike a hot-neutral reversal, this critical fault energizes the exposed metal chassis or ground paths of connected equipment with full line voltage, creating an immediate, severe electrocution hazard for anyone touching the appliance, even if the device appears to be switched off.
