Something similar to an attic is a loft, which is also upper space under roof used for storage or living, and garret, which is habitable attic room. Other similar spaces include mezzanine, which is intermediate floor between main floors, and belfry, which is upper part of tower housing bells. Basement and cellar are similar in being storage spaces but at bottom of house rather than top, offering analogous storage function. Crawl space is similar as unfinished low height space used for storage or access to utilities. Penthouse is similar as top floor living space, often with similar views. In barns, hayloft is similar to attic for storing hay at top of barn. In terms of function, storage room, bonus room, and utility room are similar as extra storage spaces. Architecturally, dormer is part of attic that projects from roof. So closest similar spaces are loft, garret, mezzanine, and hayloft, all being elevated storage or living spaces under or near roof.
