In open, well-ventilated areas, argon gas is completely non-toxic, chemically inert, and harmless to the human body. However, because it is heavier than air, if argon leaks into a confined, unventilated space, it can displace oxygen. Breathing air with severely depleted oxygen levels leads to asphyxiation, dizziness, unconsciousness, or suffocation without immediate physical warning symptoms because argon has no odor or taste.
