When a thermostat becomes totally unresponsive or frozen, the most effective first step is a physical power reset. Detach the thermostat faceplate entirely from the wall backplate, leave it disconnected for approximately 30 seconds to allow internal capacitors to drain, and then snap it back firmly into place. This forces the operating system to reboot cleanly. Verification: Ensure the startup logo appears on screen and the touch interface registers your inputs.
