To get an offline Ecobee thermostat back online, go to the physical thermostat screen, navigate to the Main Menu, select Settings, choose Wi-Fi, and enable the network connection to scan for your home router. If it fails to connect automatically, restarting your home internet router, verifying your Wi-Fi password, or performing a quick device reboot by removing and re-seating the unit on its wall plate will typically restore connectivity.
