When a residential washing machine fills with water and successfully agitates the clothes during the wash cycle, but refuses to spin or drain the water afterward, the issue points to a clogged drain pump filter, a faulty drain pump motor, a broken lid switch, or a snapped spin belt. If the machine cannot pump wastewater out of the tub, the electronic control board will deliberately prevent the drum from spinning to avoid flooding. You can troubleshoot drainage easily by checking the pump filter compartment. You can verify that your corrective action is successful when clearing trapped lint and coins out of the drain pump filter or replacing a faulty pump motor allows the machine to empty wastewater and execute high-speed spinning.
