There have been recalls on GE ovens over the years, though most current 2023-2026 models are not under recall, and you should check your specific model at cpsc.gov/Recalls. Notable recalls include GE electric wall ovens and ranges manufactured 2008-2012 models like JTP30SPSS and JBP35DMWW where control board could overheat and cause fire hazard due to relay failure, remedy was free replacement of control board. Another recall involved GE gas ranges manufactured 2015-2020 models like JGBS66REKSS and JGB735SPSS where gas valve could leak and cause fire hazard if not tightened correctly during installation, remedy was inspection and tightening. Earlier recall in 2006 involved GE ovens with self-clean latch that could fail and cause door to unlock during self-clean at high temperature. To check if your GE oven is currently under recall, locate model and serial number on inside of door or side of oven, then enter it at geappliances.com/recall or cpsc.gov/Recalls, or call GE Appliances at 1-800-432-2737. Always register appliance at geappliances.com to receive recall notices. If your oven is under recall, GE provides free in-home repair. Most 2023-2026 GE ovens like JTS5000SNSS and JB735SPSS are not under recall, but check regularly as CPSC updates list with fire and electrical hazards.
