A house having no basement is not bad at all; millions of homes across the world are successfully built on concrete slab foundations or crawl spaces. The absence of a basement is entirely normal in regions with high water tables, expansive clay soils, or warm southern climates where deep frost lines do not require subterranean foundations. While you miss out on extra storage square footage, slab and crawl space homes are often cheaper to build and eliminate subterranean moisture risks.
