The vast majority of Glidden paints sold today are water based, specifically 100% acrylic latex, though Glidden does make some specialty oil based and alkyd products for specific applications. All of Glidden's main interior and exterior wall paints, including Glidden Essentials, Glidden Premium, Glidden Diamond, and Glidden Premium Exterior, are water based latex formulas that are low VOC, low odor, easy to clean up with soap and water, and quick drying, which is standard for modern residential paints due to environmental regulations. Water based paints are preferred for walls and ceilings because they are more flexible, resist cracking, do not yellow over time, and allow for easy touch-up. Glidden does still manufacture oil based products for trim, doors, and specialty uses, such as Glidden Professional oil based primers and some industrial alkyd enamels that provide a harder, smoother finish on metal and wood, but these are typically found in PPG Paints stores rather than Home Depot and are labeled clearly as alkyd or oil based. If you are buying Glidden at Home Depot or Walmart for your home's walls, you are almost certainly buying water based latex. You can confirm by reading the label where it says cleanup with soap and water for latex and cleanup with mineral spirits for oil based.
