How to know if washer filter is clogged includes symptoms like washer not draining or draining slowly, water left in drum after cycle, error codes like ND, 5C, OE for drain error, foul odor from washer due to trapped debris, and visible lint or debris in filter when checked. Samsung front load washers have drain pump filter that collects coins, hair, lint, and small objects, and when clogged washer will not drain, will make humming noise but not pump water out, cycle will pause with water inside, and may show drain error. You may hear pump trying but not draining. Water may leak from front if filter loose. If washer takes longer to drain than usual or clothes still soaking wet at end of spin, filter may be partially clogged. To confirm, open access panel at bottom front, drain water via emergency hose, then unscrew filter and inspect, if packed with lint, hair, coins, it was clogged. Clean filter regularly every 1 to 3 months to prevent clogs, especially if you wash pet hair or small items.
