You can easily determine if your faucet has an aerator by inspecting the very end of the faucet spout where the water stream exits. Look for a visible threaded metal or plastic collar ring at the tip of the spout. If you unscrew this tip counterclockwise (using your fingers or pliers protected by a cloth), you will find a small removable assembly containing a fine wire mesh screen, a plastic disc, and a rubber washer. Almost all modern residential kitchen and bathroom sink faucets are equipped with an aerator to mix air into the water stream and prevent splashing. Verification: Unscrew the tip assembly to visually inspect the internal mesh screen and confirm it is an aerator.
