Fleas generally do not stay on you after a shower because fleas do not live on humans like lice, they live on pets and in environment such as carpets, pet bedding, and cracks, and only jump onto humans to feed on blood for a short time then jump off, so showering with soap and water will wash away any fleas that are crawling on skin or in hair, though bites may remain itchy for days due to allergic reaction to flea saliva. However, if you have pets with fleas or heavily infested bedding and clothing, new fleas can quickly jump back onto you after shower from environment, so showering alone does not prevent reinfestation. Fleas can hide in clothing seams and survive brief water exposure if not thoroughly washed, so to ensure fleas do not stay on you, you should also wash clothing, bedding, and towels you used on high heat for 30 minutes, as heat above 120 degrees kills all stages including eggs, and dry on high heat, vacuum your home thoroughly including carpets, pet bedding, and furniture, and treat pets with veterinary flea preventative. Showering can provide temporary relief and remove fleas present, but without treating environment and pets, fleas will return. So fleas do not stay on you after shower if you also wash clothes and treat environment.
