The recall affects three specific models: WD1764, WD1357, and WD1720. These plywood stools measure 18 inches deep, 16.9 inches wide, and 34.6 inches tall, with the model number engraved on the underside of the bottom step . The importer is Shenzhen Muqiqu Creative Development Co. Ltd., based in China .

Safety Hazards Identified

According to the CPSC recall notice, the tower stools present multiple serious safety risks . The primary hazards include:

• Collapse and tip-over: The stools can collapse or tip over while a child is using them, potentially causing dangerous falls .

• Entrapment hazard: The openings on the front and back sides are large enough for a child's torso to fit through, creating a risk of serious injury or death from entrapment .

The structural vulnerabilities make the stools particularly dangerous during typical use, even under adult supervision .

Incident Reports and Injuries

The CPSC has documented 22 reports of instability or tip-over incidents involving the recalled Woodure stools . These incidents have resulted in 15 reported injuries, including scrapes, cuts, and bruises . No fatalities have been reported .

Manufacturer's Response and Remedy

Shenzhen Muqiqu Creative Development is offering a free repair kit to affected consumers rather than providing refunds . The repair kit includes:

• Protective nets to prevent entrapment

• Stabilizing feet to prevent tip-overs

• Installation instructions 

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled stools immediately and store them away from children until the repair kit is installed .

The Woodure recall is part of a larger pattern of safety concerns regarding toddler learning towers and step stools . On the same day, the CPSC announced additional recalls for:

• HARPPA Nordi Foldable Toddler Tower Stools (Model HANS0002): Approximately 47,166 units recalled due to similar collapse and entrapment hazards. Three incidents were reported, including two injuries .

• Mangohood Direct Kids Kitchen Standing Towers (Model LT003): Over 100 units recalled .

Together, these recalls affect over 138,000 toddler towers . The Good Housekeeping Institute has ceased recommending toddler learning towers altogether due to recurring safety issues, noting that improper climbing poses significant dangers even with direct adult supervision .

Federal law strictly prohibits the resale or distribution of any recalled consumer products . Consumers who own any of the affected products should verify model numbers through the CPSC database and immediately stop using them .
