Truly Nolen pest control is a family-owned company, which is unusual for a pest control company of its size. It was founded in 1938 by Truly Wheatfield Nolen in Miami, Florida, and remains owned and operated by the Nolen family to this day. The company started when Truly Nolen Sr. borrowed $500 to start his own pest control business after working for his father's pest control company. The family ownership has continued through multiple generations. Truly David Nolen, son of the founder, took over leadership and helped expand the company nationally, and later his sons, including Truly Nolen III and Scarlett Nolen-Bourdon and others in the family, have held executive roles. The corporate headquarters is in Tucson, Arizona, where the family moved the company in the 1960s. The distinctive branding with the antique car featuring a giant mouse on top and the slogan Truly Car was the idea of the family and has become an iconic part of the company's identity. Because it is privately held and family-owned, unlike Orkin which is owned by Rollins or Terminix which is owned by Rentokil, Truly Nolen has been able to maintain a strong family culture and consistent branding for over eight decades.
