Leviton switches are made by Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., which is an American company that designs and manufactures its own switches and wiring devices. Leviton was founded in 1906 in Brooklyn, New York, by Isidor Leviton and remains a privately held family-owned company headquartered in Melville, New York. The company operates its own engineering centers and manufacturing plants in the United States, Mexico, and other locations, where it produces its Decora switches, standard toggle switches, dimmers, and Decora Smart smart switches. Leviton switches are designed in the US to meet UL and CSA safety standards and are made with quality materials and testing. While Leviton is the manufacturer, like most large electrical companies it uses global supply chains for components, so some switches may be made in its Mexican plants or assembled in the US with global parts, but all are engineered and quality controlled by Leviton itself. Leviton is one of the few major electrical device makers that is still independently owned and not part of a conglomerate like Schneider Electric or Eaton. Its switches are sold at Home Depot, Lowes, and electrical distributors and are known for reliability and wide availability, and the company has been making switches for over a century.
