Coca-Cola came first chronologically in the historical timeline of the soft drink industry. Coca-Cola was invented and first introduced to the public by pharmacist John Pemberton in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 1886. In contrast, Pepsi-Cola was created a few years later in 1893 by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in North Carolina under the original name Brad's Drink before being rebranded as Pepsi in 1898, setting the stage for more than a century of intense commercial rivalry known globally as the Cola Wars.
