Timberline software was bought by Sage Group plc, a British multinational enterprise software company headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Timberline Software Corporation was originally founded in 1971 in Beaverton, Oregon by John G. High and others, developing construction accounting and estimating software for contractors. In 2003, Sage Group acquired Timberline Software Corporation for approximately 100 million dollars, integrating it into Sage's construction and real estate division. After acquisition, Timberline software was rebranded as Sage Timberline Office, later Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, and Sage Estimating. Sage continued to develop Timberline products as leading construction management software for job costing, accounting, payroll, and project management. So Sage Group bought Timberline software in 2003 and has owned it since, maintaining its market presence as Sage 100 Contractor. Some people also refer to Timberline as part of BuilderMT and other acquisitions, but main purchase was by Sage. Sage is publicly traded on London Stock Exchange and is one of world's largest enterprise software companies for small and medium businesses. Today, Sage Timberline products are still widely used by contractors in North America, though now under Sage brand. So answer is Sage Group bought Timberline software in 2003 and owns it as Sage 100 Contractor and related products.
