Several U.S. states have enacted aggressive legislation banning or restricting the sale of consumer products and cookware containing intentionally added PFAS, which includes traditional PTFE (Teflon) nonstick coatings. States with active bans taking effect between 2025 and 2026 include Minnesota, Colorado, Maine, Connecticut, and Vermont. Additionally, several other states have introduced phased legislative timelines or strict reporting rules to completely eliminate intentional PFAS usage across household goods, textiles, and food packaging over the coming years.
