The original chemical compound known as Teflon (PTFE) is no longer produced or used directly by the modern DuPont corporation. Following extensive corporate restructurings, spin-offs of chemical divisions into Chemours, and mounting regulatory pressures over hazardous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), the manufacturing of traditional PTFE has been phased out or transferred. While the "Teflon" trademark remains a globally recognized brand name owned by Chemours, modern production lines are rapidly transitioning away from legacy long-chain forever chemicals to comply with strict global safety and environmental laws.
